Hello Riders,

Welcome to the early development access for our downhill game Lonely Mountains: Downhill - developed by Jan and Daniel from Megagon Industries.

Last year thanks to our community we run a successful Kickstarter campaign. Since then people who found the game after the Kickstarter asked us if there is still a way to support the game and be a part of the development.

After some consideration we decided the best way to make that possible is to open up the early development here on Itch.io, which was until now only available for our 50€+ Kickstarter Backers.

This version allows you to join us in the muddy trenches of game development. We update the game (Win/Mac) roughly every two weeks with new content and features. But please be aware that there are still a lot of things missing, buggy or broken. After the development you will be able to choose to get the full game either here on Itch.io or a Steam key.

You’ll also...

  • be named as a First Rider in the credits,
  • be invited to the First Rider Discord group.
  • get a digital art/behind-the-scenes book (pdf)

You won't...

  • get the special Kickstarter upgrade for the game. This was exclusive to the Kickstarter and won’t be available again!  Sorry...

The final prize for the game will be around $20 when it will be released mid of this year. If you only want to play the game we strongly recommend to wait until then.

Only buy this version now if you want to financially support us, see how the game grows and help us with your feedback to shape the game.

Yes, there is. You don't have to buy the cat in the sack! There is a public demo available if you want to check out the game first.

If you have any questions about the game or the First Rider development version please talk to us on our Discord

You can also sign up to newsletter or follow us on Facebook or Twitter to get more behind-the-scene news.

See you on the Lonely Mountains!

Isn’t $50 cheaper than the original Kickstarter Development Access tier?

Yes, it is. But as you don’t get the exclusive Kickstarter Upgrade we think it is fair.

Hey Guys,

I saw the kickstarter page last year loved the idea, missed on backing it. I played the free 1 minute demo and I really like how the game feels.

So I was really excited to get the FRDA even for 50$ but on my MacBook it crashes everytime I hit the start game button :(

Any idea why?

The 1 minute demo works fine.

Hi blaisebee,

Thanks so much for your support. It seems the last Mac build has some issues - we are looking into that for the next update (we hope to release it this week). If you have any questions let us know here or on Discord!

Sorry for the inconvenience,

Thanks for the quick reply, totally understandable :)

Keep up the good work!

Looks good but definitely terrible marketing strategy of 50 dollars for the non-finished version. People will just wait till its cheaper. Not smart at all in the long run fyi.

This game looks really cool!

But 50 dollars?

Yeah, I agree.
That's a nice looking game you have there, but unless there's something worth $48 that I don't see in the trailer or screenshots, you shouldn't be charging that much.

Hello Shayaan, glad that you like the game. This is the early development access and it's meant for people for want to support the game although the Kickstarter is already over and participate in the development of the game. The game will cost around $20 at release later this year.  - Daniel

actually, if i'm not mistaken, early access is usually less expensive than the full release; an unfinished game should not cost more than a finished one. the people that want to support the game will be the ones that pay more.

Hey Nox, thanks for the feedback. We added a better description explaining the purpose of the development access. It's not meant as a pre-sale but as a way to financially support the development after the Kickstarter has ended - hence the $50. Does it make more sense now? -Daniel
